Waking Up

Liberal Democrat that I am, I was disappointed in President Obama’s speech last night. There’s little that will make me believe that we need to be further involved in the Middle East, and not to sound too parochial, expend our fast dwindling, if not already dwindled resources outside of this nation.

Then, of course, there’s the lead from Japan today, “Japan’s prime minister insisted Tuesday that the country was on ‘maximum alert’ to bring its nuclear crisis under control, but the spread of radiation raised concerns about the ability of experts to stabilize the crippled reactor complex.” Just great, eh? Is there going to be a nation left there, or is it just in “half life” phase now. I’m not a “conspiricist” by any stretch of the imagination, but news on this matter seems to be just dribbling out; it seems that the Japanese government probably knows considerably more than it’s releasing, then providing news when it’s forced to do so. Bad way of doing things.

And Iraq isn’t going that well, with a major hostage taking episode today.

These nations have been at war for thousands of years. Why do we expect something different until they change internally.

Then there’s big business, with GE spending more than $3 billion on an acquisition. Wonder how much it’s spending on new jobs.

With all the news, it’s still better to wake up in the morning than not.
